Those Who Know Your Name

Individuals often come to be known by a character trait or attribute that describes them in such a manner that when used, one doesn’t even have to know the name of the person to identify them. Let’s use our church family for example. If I refer to guys “who can fix anything or do anything construction wise” who am I talking about? Matt Sandvold and Jerry Travis! If I am talking about the guy who can’t fix anything or do anything construction wise” who am I talking about? Me, of course! Or if I talk about the woman who “loves to vacuum”? Gloria! Or if I mention a gracious and fond memory of “the guy who says ‘Amen’? Dale Manternach! Or another gracious and fond memory of “the best greeter ever”? Tom Rustand!

This works because we all have qualities or characteristics that help define us. The same can be applied to our text this week of Psalm 9, where David outlines for us the characteristics of “those who know Your name.” (v. 10a)
